The fire marshal is responsible for fire investigation, fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, and more. This means ensuring buildings are up to code and determining the causes of any fires that do occur.
As a result of a newly adopted town ordinance, The Office of the East Lyme Fire Marshal will be charging a fee for permit/plan reviews and life safety inspections beginning July 1, 2023
