Garbage Collection – Back on Schedule
Garbage and Recycling Collection will resume regular operations on Friday. We’ll be collecting your regular Friday route, 2/27/26. We’re planning on regular operations for next week, too. If we need to cancel any days route, we’ll let you know. We understand the overflow and excess that cancelling a few of this weeks routes has created for residents, so we’ve come up with a solution for that, too!
Transfer Station
The Transfer Station will be opened with NORMAL SERVICES starting Saturday
Hole in the Wall & The Boardwalk
We have started the process of clearing the Hole in the Wall Parking Lot and Boardwalk!
They will be CLOSED while we clear, but upon reopening, you will have access from both the Hole in the Wall and Cini Park – we encourage you to utilize both parking areas and enjoy your strolls!
While this is *not a part of normal snow clearing operations*…we have our reasons
Night Operations
Starting tonight, Thursday 2/26/26, and Friday night, 2/26/26, our crews will coordinate with local traffic control & ELPD to begin clearing the sidewalks and roadways on Pennsylvania Ave and Main Street – from Hope Street, to Columbus Ave. (Yes – these are state roads, and *we do not clear them as a part of normal operations*, but that’s how much we love East Lyme).
This will mean limited access and lane closures, while we’re clearing.
We recognize this is the hub of our beloved Bay town, and we know you’ve been cooped up, ready to get back out into the world!
That’s why our goal is to take these two evenings to allow for a more focused attack on the snow in these areas – We want to support our businesses, pedestrians, and the parking areas to keep our hub a-bubbing!
Until we have cleared these area sidewalks, we encourage you to get your daily steps in at…you guessed it, The Boardwalk!
*(We will resume Boardwalk clearing with Nightly Operations).*
For the safety of our crews and residents, we will continue with night operations through the next week to address sightline concerns. It takes large equipment blocking even more of the road to improve these areas – with less traffic on the roads at night, this gives us a better opportunity at tackling these piles, and low visibility corners and intersections.
Please continue to drive with caution and keep a safe distance from other vehicles and the crews working on the roads – we all want to go home.
Daytime Operations
We will continue the removal of snow throughout smaller neighborhoods, dead ends, and cul-de-sacs during regular operating hours (aka, Monday-Friday, 7am – 3pm – we don’t really want to work another weekend this Winter, or turn into vampires, if we can avoid it).
We’ve heard each of your calls, emails and concerns, and we will get to you as swiftly, safely, and effectively as possible!
Emergencies
As always, dial 911 in the event of an emergency. Our trucks are equipped with direct communication to ELPD, FD and first responders – we will ensure they have access to you and your loved ones, regardless of road or snow pile conditions!
We thank you once again for your patience, cooperation and kindness as we pivot to handle the aftermath of this Historic Blizzard!
We don’t wear capes, we drive plows.
