The Town’s sewerage system was completed in 1991 and consists of approximately 2,800 sewer connections.  The service area is not as extensive as the water system.  The primary service area is along Route 156 and the area south of Route 156, as well as most of the area extending north along Route 161 as far as the Connecticut Turnpike.  The system consists of gravity sewers, force mains, and 21 pump stations with flow pumped through Waterford and then to New London for treatment.
