The Town of East Lyme is a participant in the CT Enhanced 9-1-1 database and CT Alert Emergency Notification System (ENS).

Through CT Enhanced 9-1-1 you will be alerted of life-threatening emergencies on your home phone. You do not have to sign up for this service. It is automatic and in place at the present time.

The Emergency Notification System (ENS) allows you to get emergency alerts on your cell phone, work phone, text message and more. You must sign up for the CT Alert Emergency Notification System (ENS) if you wish to be alerted of emergencies on these other sources of communications in addition to your current home phone.

To register for CT Alert ENS, go to ctalert.gov. At this web site you will be able to:

  • Sign up multiple devices such as text messages, email or cell phones.
  • Set the order of receipt.
  • Add additional locations to receive alerts.

When will ENS be used?
The system will be used to notify residents about imminent threats to health and safety.

Will I still get emergency notifications if I don’t sign up?
If you don’t sign up, you will still receive notifications on your traditional landline home phone, but nowhere else.

What if my phone numbers or email address changes?
If these numbers change, you must go to your CT Alert ENS profile on-line and update the information. The exception is a traditional landline; those will be updated automatically.
