So the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Day this past Saturday May 4th at the Field Services Building off of Colton Road in East Lyme was very successful. This event was the most attended HHW day for SCRRRA EVER! We had 628 cars visit, of which 342 or 55% were East Lyme Residents. The reason I wanted to send this out is twofold;
First, I wanted to let residents know that our regional waste authority SCRRRA holds these events almost every month of the year from April to November and that if you missed the one held in East Lyme, you can go to any of the events in other towns. The next event is scheduled for Saturday June 1st in Colchester. A list of all the dates and locations for 2019 along with what can be brought to the HHW days and be found on the SCRRRA website. Another very popular part of the HHW day is free paper shredding of all your important documents.
Secondly, I wanted to thank Doug Glowacki from CT DESPP/DEMHS and Julie Wilson from EL Emergency Management for taking time out of their personal schedules to provide information on Severe Weather Preparedness to our residents.
If you ever have any recycling or trash questions, feel free to call us at 860-691-4118 or you can go to our Public Works section of the Town website at East Lyme Public Works or you can go to SCRRRA’s website.
