Emergency Management
Tip of the Week

CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!

A working smoke alarm can help you and your family escape a deadly home fire. It can also help save the lives of firefighters who would otherwise have to risk their lives by searching a burning home for residents. A working smoke alarm continuously scans the air for smoke, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.It never sleeps!

*All smoke alarms in your house should be tested once a month.

*Batteries should bereplaced annually. Make a plan to change them every fall when you turn back your clocks!

*Every family should develop a fire escape plan and practice it at least twice a year.

*Smoke alarms have a useful life of about ten years. At that age they should be replaced, even if they seem to be working. This will assure that the alarm will be working when you need it.
