Leaf Collection November 2, 2020 – December 4, 2020 (with the exception of snow events).  No collection Thanksgiving week.

The East Lyme Highway Department is starting fall leaf pickup on Monday November 2, 2020.  This service will continue for four weeks until Friday December 4 or until there is snow, whichever is sooner.

If residents want the Highway Department to pick up their leaves, we ask that they call the department at 860-691-4118 or email us at publicworks@eltownhall.com. When residents contact us, we would like to know the property address where the leaves are and the number of bags so we can better plan our pickups.  We ask for this information because we are trying to be more efficient this year with this service.  We are not planning on just driving around neighborhoods like we have in the past as this wastes fuel and time.  If we happen to drive by when we are going to collect leaves in a certain area and see leaves in the proper bags at the street, we will pick them up.  As a reminder, all leaves need to be put in paper yard bags and we do not pick up loose branches and brush with this service. If we see grass, brush, or anything not acceptable, we will not pick up the bags. Also we will not empty plastic bags as the leaves need to be in paper yard bags.  If residents have any questions with the way in which we are handling our fall leaf service, they can call the office at 860-691-4118.
