Korea-era and Vietnam-era Veterans Awards Ceremony

On December 2, 2024 at East Lyme High School auditorium Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Veteran Affairs Commissioner Ronald Welch, State Senator Martha Marx and First Selectman Daniel R. Cunningham recognized and honored the service of East Lyme veterans of the Korea-era and Vietnam-era.

After an introduction by Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, members of East Lyme veteran’s groups posted the colors, the national anthem was sung and the pledge of allegiance was led by East Lyme’s veteran’s representative Brian Burridge. Following the theme of “Welcome Home” and “Thank You for your service”, comments were made by Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, Veteran Affairs Commissioner Welch and First Selectman Cunningham, and State Senator Marx. Subsequently, each veteran was given a certificate from the Lt. Governor, a certificate from the First Selectman and a commemorative pin from the Veteran Affairs Commissioner. A photo was taken and will be made available for downloading. At the end of the event, the color guard retired the colors.
