Memorial Day “Flags In” Ceremony

The East Lyme Veterans Council honors our Veterans over Memorial Day by placing Markers and American Flags at grave sites in East Lyme.  This Ceremony is known as “Flags In”.  It is also conducted at Arlington Cemetery and Cemeteries across the country.

The proper flag etiquette is to remove these flags as soon as possible after Memorial Day.

The volunteers from the East Lyme Veterans Council will be removing these flags from Flanders Cemetery and Union Cemetery 2 weeks after Memorial Day.  The Flag Holder/Markers will remain.

Very Respectfully,  Patrick Hughes, Chairman East Lyme Veterans Council
