In-Town Transit Services

Transportation services are provided through the Senior Center and are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30AM and 4:00PM.

On a daily basis, transportation is available for programs at the Senior Center, and any appointment as long as it is located within the town limits. Appointments can be medical (doctor visit, physical therapy, lab visit, etc.) or they can be personal (hairdresser, meeting at a bank, etc.). Appointment times preferred between 10:00AM and 2:00PM.

Transportation is also provided for grocery shopping or drop-in errands such as going to the Post Office or to run into a bank. On Tuesday mornings and again on Tuesday afternoons, people residing in the south part of town would be picked up. On Thursday afternoons, people residing in the north part of town would be picked up.

The Senior Center offers transportation to New London/Waterford on Mondays. Most destinations are honored but any appointment must be made between 10:00AM and 2:00PM. Fridays to New London for medical only.

Transportation is provided regardless of ability to pay. However, donations are gratefully accepted. Please do not give any money to the drivers – all donations are to be brought into the Senior Center office. In addition, every year an appeal letter will be sent to all participants who have registered for transportation.

Please see the attached brochure and registration form. This must be completed and returned to the Senior Center office before any transportation requests can be provided.

Medical Transit/Southern New London County

The Senior Center is currently offering transportation for medical appointments that are located within southern New London County. Transportation is being funded by a grant through the Department of Transportation. The rides are available 7 days per week, 24 hours a day but they must be for medical appointments only. There are no fees for this transportation. There is a limit to the number of rides available each year. However, this option will only be offered if the needs of the individual cannot be met in any other manner.

In addition, this grant provides mileage reimbursement for those registered for the program. Call the Senior Center for further information.

Please see the brochure and registration form Medical Transportation Agreement in the Downloads section below. This must be completed and returned to the Senior Center office before any transportation requests can be provided.
