Registration RequirementsIn order to vote in an upcoming election, a person must register at least 7 days prior to the election. This deadline may be waived and a person may register to vote up to the day before an election if, in this time frame, he/she; (1) turns 18, (2) becomes a United States citizen, or (3) moves into a new town. In order to vote in a primary election, a person must be registered to vote at least 5 days prior to the primary, if registering by mail, and must be enrolled as a member of a particular political party. The deadline for registering in person is 12:00 noon on the last business day before a primary. Special voter registration sessions are scheduled prior to each election. Call the registrars office for further information on extended hours. You may register at the office of the Registrar of Voters in any town hall in Connecticut during normal office hours. If you are physically disabled, you may call the Registrar’s office to make arrangements to register. Applications are available from your Registrar of Voters office, the Town Clerk, or the Secretary of the State’s web site at www.sots.ct.gov |
